The Farm Fresh Atlas of Western Wisconsin is closely patterned after the "original" Farm Fresh Atlas developed by the REAP Food Group and the UW Center for Integrated Agricultural Systems.

In the fall of 2006, members of the Northwest Wisconsin Regional Food Network decided to spearhead a local effort to come up with a similar Farm Fresh Atlas. With a one-time seed grant from the UW-Extension Western District, the Farm Fresh Atlas of Western Wisconsin was launched.
